NET-XSM4556 – Managed 48-Port 10G/25G Switch: High-Bandwidth AV over IP Backbone for Professional Environments
The NET-XSM4556 is a managed switch engineered for large-scale AV over IP deployments, featuring forty-eight 10G/25G SFP28 ports and eight 100G QSFP28 uplinks. Its modular chassis incorporates dual redundant power supplies and six hot-swappable fan trays, supporting continuous operation in mission-critical AV environments. Out-of-band management, comprehensive Layer 2/3/4 services, and full SDVoE compliance make this unit suitable for control rooms, hybrid workspaces, and high-density meeting venues. The switch’s architecture addresses demanding bandwidth, redundancy, and management requirements typical of modern AV installations.

Redundant Power and Cooling: Two modular APS750W power supplies are pre-installed to provide 1+1 power redundancy, while six AFT402 modular fan trays deliver 4+2 cooling redundancy. This configuration ensures uninterrupted operation and rapid component replacement, supporting continuous uptime in critical AV applications such as control rooms and live event spaces.
Comprehensive Management Interfaces: Out-of-band 1G Ethernet management, RJ45 RS232 console, and USB storage ports are integrated to facilitate flexible device access and configuration. These interfaces enable remote monitoring, firmware updates, and secure troubleshooting, which are essential for distributed AV deployments and centralised network administration.
Advanced AV over IP Services: Layer 2, Layer 3, and Layer 4 feature sets support full SDVoE (Software Defined Video over Ethernet) compliance, optimising the switch for high-performance video distribution. Enhanced IGMP+ enables seamless Plug&Play Layer 2 multicast between M4300 and M4500 series switches, streamlining AV signal routing in complex network topologies.
Dynamic Routing Protocols Supported: Static and dynamic routing capabilities include VRRP (Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol), OSPF (Open Shortest Path First), BGP (Border Gateway Protocol), VRF-Lite (Virtual Routing and Forwarding), and PIM-SM/SSM (Protocol Independent Multicast). These protocols facilitate scalable, resilient network architectures across multi-zone AV installations.

Professional, IP-based Signal Management from the Specialist

The trend of moving matrix switching into the Ethernet network is inevitable and SDVoE already delivers capabilities far beyond that of a traditional matrix switch. Historically it has been simple to design AV over IP systems of up to 96 I/Os using a single switch using Layer-2 Multicast IGMP. However, larger installations required data center-class 100G Ethernet switches with more complex Layer-3 Multicast Routing techniques, adding complexity and cost to the Ethernet infrastructure. As SDVoE systems become ever larger, a new class of switches has come to market.The M4500 switches combine the configurability of a matrix switch with the power and scalability of Ethernet to support hundreds of AV over IP endpoints, at a price point dramatically cheaper than comparable matrix switches. Removing the need for Layer-3 PIM routing, these new switches offer IGMP Plus and greatly simplify system architectures with the same well-known IGMP techniques across the entire AV over IP network.

10G to 100G solution
- The M4500-32C offers 32-port QSFP28 preconfigured for 100G and can support 40G QSFP+ and 50G QSFP28 optics or DAC cables
- The M4500-48XFC offers 48-port SFP28 preconfigured for 10G with 8-port 100G QSFP28 uplinks, and the SFP28 ports can support 10G and 25G

- Installers opting to use M4500 switches model in their installation will find that it is already preconfigured out of the box
